Union, N.J. (2/15/25) – Dominic Masino drove in the winning runs in the bottom of the seventh to end a back-and-forth affair as the Kean University baseball team defeated visiting Drew University, 7-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Kean (2-0) scored single runs in the first and second, scoring on a wild pitch and balk.
The Rangers (0-1) took the lead with a four spot in the third, highlighted by RBI singles from Zach Maxwell and Frank Master.
The Cougars tied things up in their half of the fourth as Kyle Adorno roped a two RBI single with the bases loaded.
Drew went up 6-5 in the top of the sixth as Dallas Lorenzetti bunted home Master.
The Cougars closed out the scoring with three runs in the seventh. Cal Chase led things off with a walk and Nick Sellari followed with a double putting both runners in scoring position. Later in the frame, Masino delivered his two RBI single to put KU on top for good, 6-5. Justin Teixeira added insurance with an RBI single.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Jason Basilicata (1-0) earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs and four hits in three and two thirds innings of work. He struck out four.
The pitching staff combined for 13 strikeouts on the day.
Sellari was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two walks.
Maxwell was 3-for-5 for the Rangers.
