Baseball Bests Widener, 9-1

Union, N.J. (2/25/25)Kyle Adorno was 4-for-4 with an inside-the-park homerun as the Kean University baseball team improved to 5-0 with a 9-1 win over Widener University on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Widener (1-2) broke open the scoring in the top of the first as Kevin Bukowski launched a two-out, solo homerun.

Kean responded in the same frame and took the lead for good with a three-spot.  Adorno reached on a single and after swiping second, came around to score on a triple from CJ Tomalavage.  Matthew Del Sol gave the Cougars the lead with an RBI single and Steve Petrosh rounded out the first inning scoring with an RBI single of his own.

The Cougars would go ahead 6-1 with another three-spot, this time in the second inning. 

Kean closed out the scoring with another three-run inning in the bottom of the fourth.  Highlighting the offense was an RBI double from Tyler Stone and bases-loaded walks from Del Sol and Petrosh.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Tomalavage and Justin Teixeira each had two hits and an extra base hit. 

On the mound, Mikal Goods-Minor earned the win with a five inning performance.  He allowed one run and four walks and struck out five.  Aldo Pigna earned his first collegiate save.  He tossed three scoreless innings.

Kean hosts Immaculata University on Wednesday.
