Union, N.J. (2/26/25) – The Kean University baseball team pounded out 10 runs on 15 hits as they defeated Immaculata University, 10-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mighty Macs (0-3) put two runs on the board early after a leadoff walk and double to start the game.
That lead was short lived as the Cougars plated seven runs in the same inning. With the bases load, Cal Chase doubled in the gap, tying the game at two-all. Trevor Coltenback added two more with a single to give Kean a lead they would not relinquish. Dominic Masino collected an RBI single and after batting around, Justin Teixeira singled for the second time in the inning, this time driving in a run.
CJ Tomalavage homered to start the bottom of the second to extend the lead, 8-2.
After trading single runs, Immaculata cut the deficit in half with a two spot in the fifth. Robert Woodward drove in two with a one out single.
Kean closed out the scoring in the bottom of the sixth as Matthew Del Sol singled home Coltenback who reached on a two out triple.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Teixeira was 3-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and two walks.
Tomalavage was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and Kyle Adorno, Chase, Coltenback and Masino each had two hits.
Cole McGourty earned the win in relief while Jason Basilicata recorded his second save of the season after a three inning performance.
