Union, N.J. (2/27/25) – The Kean University baseball team suffered their first loss of the season by the final of 10-6 against Moravian University on Thursday afternoon in a rescheduled matchup.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The teams traded single runs early before the Greyhounds took their first lead of the day with a three spot in the third inning.
Kean (6-1) tied things up in the fourth as Mike Colonnello swiped second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an errant throw (all on the same play). Kyle Adorno then singled in the hole later in the inning to knot the game at four-all.
Moravian (1-2) took the lead for good in the top of the fifth as David Vozzo lofted a solo shot.
The Greyhounds would lead by as many as five (9-4) with another three-spot, this time in the seventh.
The Cougars cut the deficit to three with an RBI double from Nick Sellari along with Matthew Del Sol, who scored on a wild pitch.
Moravian added insurance in the ninth with a bases loaded walk.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
In an unmanageable three hours and 45-minute game, the Greyhounds were able to work 12 walks and both teams left a combined 25 runners on base.
Sellari was 3-for-4 for the Cougars.
For Moravian, Cole Cherkas was 3-for-5, collecting his 100th career hit.
