Baseball Takes Two from William Paterson

Wayne N.J. (4/13/25) – The Kean University baseball team swept host William Paterson University in a rescheduled matchup on Sunday afternoon, to remain in first place in the NJAC.

Game One – Kean 8, William Paterson 0

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Cougars offense got going in the fifth as Kyle Adorno registered an RBI triple.

Kean opened the gate in the sixth with four more as CJ Tomalavage connected on a solo homer, Brett HIlsheimer recorded an RBI double, Nick Sellari lofted a sac fly and Justin Teixeira recorded an infield single.

The Cougars added insurance in the seventh and eighth with three more as Hilsheimer reached on an RBI fielder's choice and Dominic Masino collected an RBI hit in the seventh and Tomalavage found the hole on the left side for an RBI in the eighth.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Jason Gilman improved to 9-0 with an eight-inning, scoreless performance. He allowed just two singles and two walks while fanning 12.

Noah Rivera worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to close out the game.

Adorno was 3-for-5 with two triples.

Game Two – Kean 7, William Paterson 2

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Kean got on the board in the third inning, with a four spot.  Tyler Stone and Dan Reistle each collected two RBI as Stone registered a double and Reistle a single.

Hilsheimer added two more in the fifth with a two RBI single.

Tom Radigan erased the shutout with a solo homerun in the sixth.

The teams traded single runs for what would be the final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Christian Pareja earned the win after tossing eight and two thirds innings.  He allowed two runs and four hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Stone was 3-for-5 with three RBI.

UP NEXT:

Kean hosts Montclair State University on Monday in a rescheduled matchup.
