New Paltz, N.Y. (9/26/25) – The Kean University women's volleyball team ran their win streak to nine with a straight set sweep of New Paltz on Friday afternoon.
Kean 3, New Paltz 0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-15)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the last "non-conference" matchup between the two schools, New Paltz is slated to join the NJAC next season as a full-member, the Cougars (12-1) topped the Hawks for the second straight season.
In today's first round action, Kean used a 7-1 run midway through the first set to gain some space. Leading 15-11, the Cougars used another run, this time with six straight points, to pull ahead by 10 (21-11). The Hawks didn't rest there and pulled within three (23-20). Kean closed out the set with kills from Cayley Elena Morrison and Bella Stem for the 1-0 lead.
The second set featured a see-saw battle that again saw a late rally from New Paltz. Kean held a 23-18 advantage before the Hawks tied things up at 23-all. After trading points, Kean needed extra time but recorded a kill from Morrison and took advantage of a NP error to push ahead by two sets.
The Cougars led from start to finish in the final set as Aspen O'Brien helped spark a 7-0 run to start the frame with three aces in the spurt.
