Mahwah, N.J. (1/28/26) – The Kean University women's basketball team fell just short at Ramapo College on Wednesday evening in a 57-50 defeat.

The Cougars started off slow and trailed 31-13 at the break, but adjusted and outscored the Roadrunners in both the third and fourth quarters.

Kean pulled within four (51-47) as Peyton Smith nailed a trey with just over two minutes to go.  The Cougars kept the deficit to single digits the rest of the way, but ran out of time to overcome the shortfall.

Smith finished with a team-high 10 points while Makaila Desire and Cara McCoy each had double-digit rebound totals with 13 and 10 respectively.

Kean stays on the road to face New Jersey City University on Saturday.
