Jersey City, N.J. (1/31/26) – The Kean University women's basketball team suffered a 58-46 defeat at New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.
After a slow back-and-forth first quarter, the Cougars led, 10-8.
The Gothic Knights found some breathing room in the second quarter, taking the lead and pushing out to a double-digit advantage (27-16) at the intermission.
Kean battled back in the third stanza and retook the lead (36-34) on a three-pointer from Peyton Smith.
NJCU answered with six straight points to close the third period and took a lead they would not relinquish.
Cara McCoy led Kean with 12 points and four rebounds. Smith added 10 points and five rebounds. Brooke Sztenderowicz recorded seven points and seven rebounds.
Kean returns home for an NJAC contest on Wednesday evening.
