Men's Soccer Drops NJAC Bout to TCNJ, 4-1

UNION, N.J. - The Kean University Cougars dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) bout to The College of New Jersey, 4-1, on Saturday, October 3 at Alumni Stadium.

Kean (2-5-3, 0-2) tallied 10 shots in the loss and put three on frame, with Matthew Sarfo leading the way with three total shots. In between the pipes, Juan Orozco made two saves.

TCNJ (5-0-5, 1-0-1) recorded 14 shots and put six on net. Matt Will paced the Lions with four shots, but it was four different Lions who found the back of the net.

The Cougars took the lead in the 21st minute. Dariel Mejia used his body to push the ball into the side netting after Andy Mayorga curled a corner kick to the back post. Sarfo nearly doubled the Cougars' lead just moments later but Sean Najdzinowicz parried it away. With just three minutes before the break, Brady was subbed into the game and made an immediate impact. Brady took the pass from Brennan Libo and hit a low shot far post to beat Orozco to knot the game at one.

TCNJ came out firing in the second half and took a 2-1 lead just six minutes in. Nick Luddy used a burst of speed along the left flank before tucking his shot underneath Orozco. 10 minutes later, the Lions would strike again. Matt Maceri used his size to rise above the Cougars' defenders to head the corner kick into the near post, putting TCNJ ahead 3-1. In the final six minutes, Tye Maser took a lofted pass from Maceri to put him through on a breakaway, where he beat Orozco for the final time.
