Union, N.J. (2/14/26) – Alvernia University won the see-saw battle, handing the Kean University baseball team their first loss of the season by the final of 7-3.

The Golden Wolves (1-0) struck first with a leadoff walk in the third followed by a successful sacrifice and an RBI double.  Alvernia tacked on one more in the fourth with a leadoff single, a successful sacrifice and an RBI single.

Kean (2-1) got one back in the same inning with back-to-back walks to start the frame followed by a groundout to the right side and an RBI groundout from Michael Colonnello.

The Cougars took the lead with two in the fifth as two out singles from Jude Clough and Brett Hilsheimer got things going.  A walk to John Chiusano loaded the bases and Justin Teixeira delivered with a two RBI single in the gap.

The Golden Wolves took the lead right back in the sixth with three singles and a sac fly to take the lead for good.  They added on two insurance runs in the ninth on a two RBI single from William Woodring.

Brett Hilsheimer was 2-for-5 for Kean in the loss.

The Cougars get some rest and will face Mitchell College on Friday afternoon.
