Union, N.J. (2/21/26) – The Kean University baseball team improved to 4-1 with a sweep of Mitchell College on Saturday.
Game One – Kean 9, Mitchell 4
The Cougars got their first homer of the young season in the bottom of the first of the bat of Dominic Masino.
Tied at one-all in the third Kean took the lead for good with a three spot. Nick Sellari started things off with a double and came around to score on a sac fly from Masino. Tyler Stone registered a double of his own and Jude Clough traded places with him with Kean's third double of the frame. Michael Simone rounded out the scoring with an RBI single.
Later in the game leading 5-2, the Cougars used another three spot to put the game out of reach. Brett Hilsheimer delivered a two RBI double while Mike Colonnello added an RBI single.
Stone and Sellari were each 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Clough was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
On the mound, Christian Pareja earned his first win of the season allowing two runs in five innings. Cal Chase earned a four inning save allowing two runs and three hits.
Game Two – Kean 5, Mitchell 3
Kean picked up right where they left off in their first at bat. Masino collected a one out walk and Stone drove in the game's first run with a triple. Clough lofted a sac fly one batter later for a quick 2-0 lead.
The Cougars added a single run in the second as Colonnello walked with two outs, swiped second and scored on a Sellari single.
Kean pushed out to a 5-0 lead in the third as Dan Reistle connected on a two out, two RBI single in the gap.
Mitchell (0-2) added a single run in the fourth and crept closer with two more in the sixth. Nicholas Bracale recorded a two out, two RBI single.
Lucas White (1-1) earned the win. He tossed six innings allowing three runs, one earned, and six hits. He struck out five. Noah Rivera held the Mariners scoreless for two innings and Jason Basilicata earned a save with a scoreless ninth.
Offensively Stone was 3-for-4.
The Cougar defense recorded six double-plays during the twinbill.
Kean is slated to face Widener University on Tuesday.
