Men’s Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at NYU

NEW YORK, N.Y. (2/7/26) – Chris Mitchell combined for 38 kills and a .311 hitting percentage over two matches as the Kean University men's volleyball team split a tri-match hosted by NYU on Saturday evening.

Kean 3, Misericordia 1
  • Three Cougars notched double digits kills as Kean opened with a 3-1 victory.
  • Mitchell posted four kills and no errors as Kean closed set one with a 6-1 run.
  • After falling in set two, the Cougars closed on a 3-1 run after two errors and one assisted block.
  • Kean took the match in a dominating set four victory that saw the Cougars hit .389.
  • Mitchell totaled 15 kills and seven digs.
  • Danny Pugliano notched 10 kills.
  • Sean Murphy notched 10 kills.
  • David Flores recorded 36 assists and 14 digs.
#7 NYU 3, Kean 2
  • The Cougars came up just short in a five-set loss to the host Violets.
  • Kean hit .323 and led wire-to- wire in the set one victory.
  • Mitchell added seven kills as the Cougars held NYU to a negative hitting percentage at -.150
  • The Violets responded with victories in sets three and four after hitting over .350 in both.
  • Kean missed a key serve in the closing points of both sets as well.
  • NYU took the match with a .765 hitting percentage in the deciding set.
  • Mitchell totaled 23 kills.
  • Murphy posted 19 kills.
  • Pugliano notched 12 kills.
  • Aidan Flinn recorded 10 kills and 12 digs.
