Center Valley, Pa. (3/25/26) – The Kean University softball team split in non-conference action at DeSales University on Wednesday evening.
Kean 6, DeSales 3 (Game One)
The Cougars plated runs in the third, fourth and fifth to take a 5-0 lead. Gina Mahlik got things going with an RBI double while Nikki Lusnia followed with an RBI single. Rielynn Carey recorded an RBI single of her own in the fifth for the 5-0 advantage.
The Bulldogs registered a single run in the sixth on a Kean miscue before the Cougars answered back in the seventh with an RBI double from Kylie Petak.
DeSales rallied in the bottom of the final inning with two runs off a triple, but Kean was able to close the door for the opening win.
Brianna Schiulli had two hits while Samantha Raymond recorded three walks.
Lusnia picked up the complete game win. She allowed two earned runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts.
DeSales 5, Kean 0 (Game Two)
The Bulldogs recorded five runs despite only collecting five hits, taking advantage of seven walks.
Kean scattered four hits along the way, but were held by Brianna Bauscher who tossed a complete game shutout.
Sciulli registered two hits in the leadoff spot.
Kean travels to Ramapo College on Saturday to open NJAC play.
