Mahwah, N.J. (3/29/26) – The Kean University softball team fell to Ramapo College in doubleheader action on Sunday.
Ramapo 9, Kean 2 (Game One)
Kean struck first, plating single runs in the second and third.
Nikki Lusnia led off with a double and came around to score as Hailey Kilpatrick singled her home
In the third, Brianna Sciulli reached second on a Ramapo miscue and later stole third. Colleen Downey lofted a sac fly to make it 2-0.
Ramapo then took the lead for good with four runs in the third, aided by four walks and a double.
The Roadrunners added cushion with two runs in the fourth and fifth and a final run in the sixth.
Ramapo 1, Kean 0 (Game Two)
The nightcap featured a tight pitchers' duel that saw only seven combined hits.
The Roadrunners scored the game's only run in the bottom of the first after the leadoff batter reached on a single, swiped second, moved to third on a groundout and later scoring on a hard shot to third that ricocheted.
The Cougars best opportunity happened in the second as Rielynn Carey lined a one out double. She proceeded to swipe third but was left stranded after two contested strikeouts.
Despite the loss, Samantha Raymond tossed a complete game, allowing just four hits and two walks. She fanned five.
Offensively, Carey had two of Kean's three hits.
Kean returns home to Montclair State on Tuesday.
