Reading, Pa. (3/26/26) – The Kean University baseball team exploded for 13 runs on 16 hits to defeat Alvernia University, 13-2, on Thursday afternoon.
The Cougars (14-4-1) got on board in the third with back-to-back doubles from Dominic Masino and Justin Teixeira along with a swipe of home.
An RBI single from Mike Colonnello in the fourth made it 3-0 and a sac fly from Jude Clough added one more in the fifth.
After Alvernia broke up the shutout with a single run in the fifth, Kean broke the game open with three in the sixth. Highlighting the inning was a two RBI single from Michael Simone.
The Cougars did not stop there and added three more in the seventh aided by four singles, a walk and a sac fly.
Kean rounded out the scoring in the eighth with another three-spot. Cole McGourty registered an RBI double and JT Abrusci notched a two RBI triple.
Offensively five Cougars collected two hits each as 21 players saw action in the contest.
On the mound, Peyton Shaw earned his third win of the season allowing no earned runs in six innings of work. He allowed four hits and one walk.
Kean travels to New Jersey City University on Saturday to open NJAC play.
