Union, N.J. (3/31/26) – The Kean University baseball team used two big innings to power past Centenary University, 14-2, on Tuesday afternoon.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the #5 Cougars (17-4-1) took the lead for good with five runs. Kean sent nine batters to the plate and benefited from three walks and a hit batter. Michael Simone tied the game at one-all with an RBI fielder's choice and Cole McGourty gave the Cougars the lead with a two RBI single. Adam Scire followed later with a two RBI single of his own as Kean led 5-0 after the 35 minute first inning.
Kean added two in the fourth as Tyler Stone launched a solo shot and Scire collected an RBI sacrifice.
Leading 7-2 in the eighth, the Cougars exploded for seven more runs, sending 13 batters to the plate. Kean collected six hits, highlighted by a two RBI double from Jude Clough.
Stone was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and a triple shy of the cycle. Scire was 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Connor Ramsey earned the win in relief. He allowed one run and three hits in two and two thirds innings.
Kean will face Ramapo College at home on Thursday (note site change).
