Ewing, N.J. (4/18/26) – The Kean University softball team swept The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.
Kean 4, Rowan 2 (Game One)
The Cougars needed a late rally to push past the Lions in the opener. TCNJ jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a solo homer. The Lions made it 2-0 in the fourth after a two out, RBI single.
Kean plated all four of their runs in the sixth as the Cougars loaded the bases with one out as Ashley Weber and Gina Mahlik walked sandwiched around a Kiley Allen single. That set up Rielynn Carey who cleared the bases with a triple. After another walk was issued to Samantha Raymond, Nikki Lusnia added insurance with an RBI single.
Lusnia worked around 11 hits to allow just two runs for the win.
Kean 2, Rowan 0 (Game Two)
The Cougars got all the runs they would need in the top of the second as Carey and Raymond walked to start the frame. Lusnia put them both in scoring position with a sacrifice and Maddie Cerami drove in one with a groundout. Morgan Boyd added what would be the final run of the day with a single up the middle.
TCNJ threatened in the fifth with three singles but Kean got a big out catching runners in between forcing two rundowns.
Raymond earned the win. She tossed a complete game shutout allowing just six hits, five singles and one walk. She fanned two.
Kean hosts Stockton University on Tuesday.
