Madison, N.J. (9/1/26) – The Kean University women's volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a 3-0 blanking of Drew University.
Kean 3, Drew 0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-20)
After trading points early in the matchup, the Cougars used two quick three-point bursts to give themselves enough cushion to lead the rest of the set. Ashley Torok and Abigail Carpenter each had two kills in the spurt.
Tied at 10-all in the second stanza, Kean again used two quick surges to regain and hold on to the advantage in the second set. Carpenter repeated with two kills in the run.
Kean never trailed in what would be the final set, closing out the match on a 7-3 run, highlighted by three kills from Torok.
Torok led all players with 16 kills while finishing with a double-double adding 10 digs. Cayley Elena Morrison powered through with 11 kills and no errors, good for a .611 attack percentage on the night. Carpenter and Annabelle Valencia combined for 21 digs on the passing game and Rae Marrero tallied 36 assists in her Kean debut.
The Cougars return to Harwood Arena for their home opener this Friday against Cortland at 5 p.m.
