Union, N.J. (9/18/26) – Senior Cayley Elena Morrison notched her 1,000 career kill as the Kean University women's volleyball team fell to Whittier College, 3-0 on Friday evening.
Morrison needed seven kills coming into the night and she found the magical number midway through the third set. She becomes the 10th player in program to earn the honor.
Whittier 3, Kean 0 (21-25, 8-25, 16-25)
The Cougars started the match with an ace, but the Poets responded with seven straight points to take a lead they would not relinquish. Trailing 16-8, Kean battled back and closed within two with a 6-0 run, but that would be as close as they would get as Whittier to a 1-0 lead.
The Poets used that momentum and led from start to finish in the second set.
The third set featured one lead by the Cougars, but the Poets were able to keep a comfortable advantage to pull away with the straight set win.
Ashley Torok led Kean with 16 kills. Morrison finished with seven kills while hitting .353.
Whittier recorded a .326 team hitting percentage as Malena The registered a double-double 10 kills and 11 digs.
Kean travels on Saturday to Widener to take on Marywood and the Pride.
