Chester, Pa. (9/19/26) – The Kean University women's volleyball team split in Saturday action, falling in the opener and winning in the nightcap.
Marywood 3, Kean 2 (26-24, 18-25, 13-25, 25-20, 10-15)
The Cougars battled, but ultimately feel short of the Pacers (11-1). Tied at eight-all in the decisive fifth set, Marywood used a short 3-0 run to give themselves the only cushion they would need.
Abigail Carpenter and Cayley Elena Morrison combined for 26 kills while Annabelle Valencia registered 33 digs and five aces. Ashley Torok chipped in with nine kills and three aces.
Kean 3, Widener 1 (25-20, 25-21, 18-25, 25-13)
The Cougars responded in the nightcap, recording 51 kills and 10 blocks. The first two sets featured a see-saw battle to start, a strong surge from the Pride midway through before Kean powered through to finish. Widener forced a fourth set with a 6-1 run to end the third. The Cougars closed out the win using a 6-0 run to give themselves a large enough cushion in the fourth and final set.
Carpenter registered 11 kills and four aces while Torok posted 10 kills while hitting .391. Jayda Golech hit .417 with eight kills and five assisted blocks.
Kean opens up NJAC play on Tuesday when they host Montclair State.
