Montclair, N.J. (4/28/22) – The Kean University baseball team fell to host Montclair State University, 25-1 on Thursday afternoon.
With today's outcome, the two teams are tied for second place in the NJAC standings with a 12-3 mark. The two teams will square off again tomorrow at Jim Hynes Stadium.
The Red Hawks jumped out early with three runs in the first two innings with the benefit of only one hit. Walks and wild pitches allowed MSU to score. The Red Hawks would widen the gap with six hits in the third frame all with two outs to take an 8-0 lead. They put the game out of reach with an eight run sixth inning.
The Cougars erased the shutout with an RBI single from Kyle Adorno in the fifth, scoring Gianni Marano who reached on a leadoff double.
Joe Norton led the Red Hawks with a 4-for-7 day in the leadoff spot with seven RBI.
