Union, N.J. (4/29/22) – Montclair State University completed the series sweep by defeating host Kean University by the final of 11-0 on Friday afternoon.
The Red Hawks (28-9, 13-3 NJAC) used 11 hits and took advantage of five Cougar miscues to pull away with the win.
Freshman Ethan Gonzalez (4-1) tossed a complete game shutout allowing six hits while striking out two for the longest outing of his young career.
MSU scored two runs in the first and two more in the fourth all on errors. They put the game away in the sixth inning plating five runs on five hits, including three doubles.
All but one starter had a hit for the Red Hawks in the balanced offensive attack.
For Kean (29-9, 12-4 NJAC), Kyle Adorno collected three of their six hits from his leadoff position.
The Cougars travel to Glassboro to take on first place Rowan University in the final two regular season games of the season on Saturday. Game time is 12:30 p.m.
