Kean Jersey City Women's Soccer Drops Road Contest to Mount Saint Mary

Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Kean Jersey City women's soccer team dropped a road game to Mount Saint Mary on Monday, September 14, 5-2. 

Kean Jersey City (1-2) put two shots on frame, both of which found the back off the net. Between the pipes, Jessica Martin made 18 saves in the loss while facing 30 shots by Mount Saint Mary. 

Mount Saint Mary (2-3) pepper Kean Jersey with 30 shots, and found the back of the net five times. They also edged the Cougars 9-1 in corner kicks with Grace Morra leading the team with seven shots. 

Isabella Milburn opened the scoring for the Knights in the 11th minute with a shot that found its way into the top left corner. Eight minutes later the Knights doubled their tally from via a penalty kick to quickly go ahead 2-0 over the Cougars. The offense stalled for both teams throughout the middle portion of the first half until Faith Walsh broke the drought in the 32nd minute with a low shot into the right corner. Five minutes later the Cougars struck gold off of the foot of Beatriz Oliveira Dos Santos, with an assist by Gabriella Cardona, to make the score 3-1. The Knights weren't done scoring in the first half as they added a fourth in the 42nd to take a 4-1 lead into the break. 

The Cougars withstood an early offensive onslaught by the Knights in the second half before Sarah Alvarez found the second tally of the game for Kean Jersey City. After the Cougars found their second marker of the game, the Knights tightened up defensively and didn't allow a shot for the remainder of the game. With four minutes left in the game, the Knights secured their fifth goal to close out the game, 5-2.
