Dawn Dickten was a four-year letter winner in both soccer and basketball from 1989 to 1993. On the soccer field, Dickten was the only Kean player to ever be named CSANJ All-State for four consecutive years. She was also named NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Region squad in 1991 and 1992. During her four years, the soccer team was 52-14-8, and earned three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. Dickten finished her senior season with 11 assists and 29 assists for her career, both good for second all-time in Kean history. Dickten was voted as the team's Most Valuable Player in 1992.

On the hardwood, Dickten was a force from her small forward position. She was named second team All-NJAC in 1993. Dickten led the team in shooting percentage at .409 and in total rebounds with 152 in 1992. For her career, she averaged 12.8 points per game, and she still holds the school record for single-season free throw percentage at .810 in 1990-91. During her four years, the Cougars were 74-32, and took part in two NCAA Tournaments while capturing the 1990 and 1991 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships. Dickten was also honored with the 1993 D'Angola Award, presented annually to Kean's outstanding female athlete.

Dickten earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in special education and accounting from Kean in 1994.
