A three-year captain from 1985 through 1988, Donna Patton has brought distinction to herself and to Kean University as both a successful player and head coach of the Kean University tennis program, and also as a member of the University staff.

Named the team's most valuable player in 1984, Patton earned All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) honors in singles from 1986 through 1988 and in doubles in 1987 and 1988. She finished her playing career with an overall singles record of 34-13.

In New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) competition versus NCAA Division I opponents, Patton placed fifth in Flight A singles in 1986 and second in doubles in 1988.

She returned to Kean tennis in 1996 as the head coach with equal success. She earned NJAC Coach of the Year honors in 1996 and again in 1999 when she led the Cougars to a school-best, 11-1 record.

Patton graduated cum laude from Kean in 1992, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education.
