Playing just three years for the women's soccer team at Kean did not keep Madelyn Palko from completing her career as the program's all-time leading scorer. Her excellence on the soccer pitch gave the infant program a major shot of instant credibility.

The owner of six team marks as well as the three highest single-season goal totals at the time of her graduation, Palko notched a record 129 points during her career, including 61 goals.

A first-team All-American as a senior in 1986, Palko scored 24 goals in leading the Cougars to a 13-5-1 record and the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.  An All-State performer in all three of her years, Palko set school records for points in a season (52), goals in a game (4) and points in a game (8).

In Palko's three seasons, which were also the first three years of the program's existence, the 1986 All-Region selection led the Cougars to a combined record of 32-14-2 and three postseason appearances.

To recognize her athletic excellence, Palko was honored with the 1987 D'Angola Award, presented annually to Kean's outstanding male and female student-athlete.

Palko earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science/data processing from Kean in 1987.
