A star for the Newark State College (now Kean University) basketball team from 1964-1968, Tom Ziolkowski was one of the most explosive scorers and rebounders in program history, and one of just a few members of the 1,000-point, 1,000-rebound club.
Ziolkowski graduated as the club's all-time leading scorer, with 1,545 points and rebounds, with 1,009. His list of team marks also includes assists in one game (15), assists in a season (171), field goal attempts in a career (1,488), field goals made in a career (604), free throws attempted in a career (478), free throws made in a career (337), steals in a season (54), steals in a career (144) and field goal percentage in a season (52 percent).
A three-time first team All-New Jersey State College Athletic Conference (NJSCAC) choice, Ziolkowski helped lead the Squires (now Cougars) to their first conference title in 1965-1966.
Ziolkowski was also an honorable mention NAIA All-American in 1965-1966, first team All-State in 1966-1967 and second team All-State in 1967-1968. The leading scorer in the NJSCAC as a senior captain, the forward graduated as the 258th all-time leading scorer for all schools in Divisions I, II and III.
Ziolkowski earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in industrial education in 1968.
