Kean University

Not only is Norbert "Tito" Lajterman perhaps the greatest placekicker in the history of Kean football, but at the time he played, he was also one of the top kickers in the land.

Lajterman established a number of records from 1973 through 1977 that may never fall, but his place in Kean legend was secured with one particular game.

Kean and Seton Hall University battled hard for four quarters on September 25, 1976. When the final gun sounded, the score stood at Kean 15, Seton Hall 14. Not only had Lajterman's five field goals represented all the Kean Scoring for the day, but smashed the school record and tied an NCAA record as well. His final kick of the day, a 53-yarder, also set a new school mark for longest field goal.

Lajterman left Kean holding team records for field goals in a season (12), and in a career, (24). He was honored as a second team All-New Jersey State College Athletic Conference selection in 1974 and as a first team pick in 1976 and 1977. Converting 12 of 19 field goals in 1976, Lajterman's .632 percentage led all Division III kickers and was third in the nation among all divisions.
Lajterman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from Kean in 1979.
