A forward for the women's basketball team from 1983 through 1987, Torrie Rumph accomplished almost anything a star could hope for on the hardwood.

Just the second Kodak All-American in the program's history, as well as a three-time first team All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) selection, Rumph led the Cougars to an incredible 100-13 mark during her time at Kean. That amazing run included four NJAC championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances. She capped her career with the team's debut Final Four appearance in 1987, a year that saw the Cougars win a team record 25 consecutive games. Rumph was named the New Jersey Basketball Writers and Coaches Player of the Year following the season.

Rumph finished her stellar career with 1,288 points, which represented the second-highest total in the program's history. Her 501 points in her senior season were a school record at the time, and the 23 rebounds she snared in one game remain the school standard.

A two-time captain, Rumph earned All-State and All-Eastern College Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore and as a senior. Her excellence on the court was recognized when she was presented with the 1987 D'Angola Award, conferred annually upon Kean's outstanding male and female athlete.

Following her playing days, Rumph served the program as an assistant coach, helping Kean to four more NJAC titles.

Rumph earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Kean in 1988.
