Sandy Fisher was a flash both in the field and at the plate whose softball career culminated in 1986 when, as a senior, she was named first team All-American, first team All-New Jersey Athletic Conference and first team All-Region.

The Cougars' captain that season, Fisher led her teammates with 38 hits and 29 runs batted in while producing a sparkling .975 fielding percentage at first base. She led Kean to a 38-9 record and to the squad's inaugural berth in the College World Series.

During the course of her career from 1983 through 1986, the Cougars battled to an 80-60 record, making three postseason appearances. The 1984 and 1985 clubs qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament.

As a sophomore, Fisher recorded a .328 batting average and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 154 chances.

Fisher's excellence on the softball diamond was recognized when she was honored with the 1986 D'Angola Award, presented annually to Kean's outstanding male and female student-athlete.

Fisher earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from Kean in 1987.
