Hall of Fame
A star center for the Kean women's basketball team from 1975 through 1979, Jennifer Savio became the charter member of the program's 1,000-point, 1,000-rebound club, finishing her career with 1,136 points and 1,060 rebounds. A four-year starter, Savio led the team in rebounding and was second in scoring all four seasons.
After being selected to the first team All-NJAIAW as well as the All-EAIAW Mid-Atlantic Regional team as a senior, Savio was also chosen to play in the New Jersey College Basketball Coaches All-Star Game.
Kean posted a 63-24 mark during Savio's four seasons, advancing to the EAIAW Tournament in each of them. As a senior in 1978-1979, she captained the Squires (now Cougars) to a team-record 19 wins and a runner-up finish in the EAIAW Tournament. The 1976-1977 club went 16-4 and captured the EAIAW title. In her freshman season, Savio helped the squad to a 13-8 record and the program's first postseason berth.
Following her graduation, Savio became the first Kean player to be drafted by a professional sports franchise when she was selected by the New York Stars of the Women's Basketball League in the fourth round. She also played professionally for the New Jersey Gems.
Savio earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in early childhood education from Kean in 1980.
