Hall of Fame
When the Kean lacrosse program was still in its infancy, it had John McFadyen to lend it instant credibility. From 1971 through 1974, McFadyen gave the Squires (now Cougars) an explosive scoring punch, tallying a school record 82 goals and 40 assists, a 122 total point career effort. The only player in the program's history to serve as a four-year captain, McFadyen enjoyed his most productive season in 1973, netting 32 goals to go along with 12 assists.
A second team All-Knickerbocker Conference performer as a junior, McFadyen followed that up with a first team nod as a senior in 1974. He led the 1974 squad to nine wins, their first-ever Knickerbocker Conference Championship and their initial postseason berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship with his 18 goals and 11 assists. The 1973 team won a solid eight games as well.
McFadyen was also a starting center on the football team in 1971 and 1972.
McFadyen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from Kean in 1975.
