With a lifetime batting average over .400, Jerome Greco certainly rates as one of the best pure hitters in the history of Kean baseball. As an outfielder/relief pitcher for Newark State College (now Kean University), he hit in excess of .400 in three of his four seasons in a Squires' (now Cougars) uniform, leading the squad in average each of those three seasons.
He was an All-Conference choice in 1960 and 1961, and his .460 average in 1962 set a new standard for the program until it was eclipsed by Herman Diaz.
Greco also played varsity basketball for the Squires.
Greco earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education in 1962.
