Kean University

By the numbers, Kevin McGuirl was simply the greatest offensive player ever to don a football uniform for Kean University. It's only natural that the tight end holds a host of Cougar pass reception records, as he seemed to hold on to everything that was thrown his way. A Kodak All-American in 1987, he led Kean to its first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship that season, as the squad posted a 9-2 record and made the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) playoffs.

A three-time first team All-NJAC and All-ECAC selection, McGuirl holds team records for receptions in a game (11 in 1988), in a season (45 in 1986 and 1987), and in a career (142), receiving yards in a game (181) and in a career (2,659), and touchdown receptions in a season (10) and in a career (28). He had also established a school mark for receiving yards in a season, which was subsequently topped.

McGuirl was honored as the NJAC Player of the Year in 1988, NJAC Male Athlete of the Year and New Jersey Sportswriters Male Athlete of the Year in 1989, and a second team All-NJAC choice as a freshman in 1985. He also captured the D'Angola Award in 1988 and 1989, presented annually to Kean's outstanding male and female student-athlete.

McGuirl earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management science from Kean in 1990.
